WHN, with Felice Gersh, MD as the principal investigator, will be continuing the work for the study termed, Bioidentical Hormones on Trial (BHOT). WHN is in the final phase of developing a comparative research protocol to study physiologic hormone restoration and its health impacts on 140 women PR and 70 on the Estradiol patch and cyclical oral progesterone, over a three-year period.

In this self-selected study the PR arm will consist of transdermal estradiol and progesterone, applied to the skin at various doses attempting to mimic the levels of a menstrual cycle. Study objectives will be based on pre -and post-treatment questionnaires regarding quality of life, anxiety, depression changes, cognition, and menopause symptoms as well as similar or better bone density being the primary objective.

Participants can not be using any hormones to be considered for this study. There is also a wash out time period if you were taking other hormones of 6 months.

We will begin fundraising in 2023. As of May 2022 we have officially received IRB (Internal Review Board) approval.
